Unfortunately it’s not very often that me and my sister can make it to the Big Blue Tent in Cardiff to watch the Cardiff Devils take to the ice. But with the new Ice Arena Wales nearing its completion its clear that the games at the Big Blue Tent are coming to an end. In what was meant to be a temporary location ended up being the Devils home for past decade! So before they moved across the road we made sure to make it for one last hurrah!
Last night Belfast Giants were the visitors in the first leg of the Challenge Cup semi final which ended in a 5-3 advantage to the Devils! In what was a blow for blow opening and middle period with the Giants equalising every Devils goal, only for the Devils to put the game to bed in the final quarter with a spectacular unassisted goal to give the hosts the 5-3 lead.
They held on for the victory in front of a sell out crowd!
I wish I could make it to more Ice Hockey matches, especially the Devils who I’ve now adopted as my favourites! The atmosphere inside that tent, there’s nothing quite like it! Hopefully the new arena will be just as good! But for now it’s goodbye Big Blue Tent! Thank you for introducing me to the brilliant sport and team that are the Cardiff Devils!
